Status

Both products are in private beta.
We are seeking auditors and testers.

Privacy, terms & accessibility

What we collect, and what is not written yet.

Including the second part, because a policy page that hides its gaps is the least trustworthy kind.

What this site collects

Nothing.

Not as a promise. As a fact you can check in your browser's developer tools right now.

  • No cookies. None are set, by us or anyone else.
  • No analytics. We do not know you are here.
  • No third-party requests. Every file is served from this site. No fonts, scripts, tag managers or CDNs.
  • No forms. Contact is by email, sent from your own mail application.
  • Your display preferences stay on your device, in local storage. Nothing is written until you change a setting, and it is never transmitted.

Measured, not asserted — the request monitor and storage readout behind this claim are published in full, with the date of the last run, on the measurements page.

Accessibility statement

Target: WCAG 2.2, Level AA. Shard is built accessibility-first, and intends to be a neuro-affirming product rather than a compliant one.

  • Eleven display and reading controls on every page and in every product: text size to XXL, the Atkinson Hyperlegible reading font, contrast and density modes, line and letter spacing, line length, reduced motion, decoration off.
  • Automated testing with axe-core against WCAG 2.2 AA, in both themes and all accent options.
  • Keyboard operability, visible focus, and contrast ratios measured rather than eyeballed.

Measured before every change goes live, with axe-core at a 320 px viewport, across every theme, accent and text-size combination. The full result table and the date of the last run are on the measurements page.

If something does not work for you

Tell us. You do not need to know the standard, name the problem correctly, or prove anything — “this page is unreadable on my phone” is a perfectly good report.

  • Email us with whatever detail you have — accessibility feedback. Tell us the page, and the browser or device if you know it.
  • We aim to reply within 30 days, from a person, saying what we can fix and when. If we cannot fix something, we will say so plainly rather than go quiet.
  • If our reply does not resolve it, say so and it goes to the director directly. There is no second queue — the company is small enough that this is genuinely the escalation path.

Reports about Shard Audit or Shard Books are just as welcome as reports about this site.

Known limitations

  • This site is new. Some of it describes intent as much as shipped behaviour, and we have tried to mark which is which.
  • The products are in private beta and have not been independently audited by a third party.
  • Automated testing catches a minority of accessibility problems — roughly a third, on the usual estimates. The rest needs people telling us.

What happens to your email

Email is the only way this site collects anything, and it only happens because you chose to write.

  • A person reads it. Every message is read by a human. Nothing is auto-triaged, auto-replied, scored, or fed to an AI model.
  • It is not used to train anything. Not ours, not anyone else’s.
  • It stays with us. Not sold, not shared, not passed to a marketing tool. There is no mailing list to be added to.
  • It is kept only as long as it is useful — for the conversation, and for the beta while you are part of it. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.
  • No form, no tracking. The address is assembled in your browser rather than written into the page, which keeps it away from scrapers. Your mail client sends the message; nothing on this site sees it.

Email reaches us through a commercial mail provider, so it sits on their servers in transit like any other email. We are not claiming otherwise.

Three documents that are not ready

They are drafted and awaiting Australian legal review. We would rather publish nothing than publish a template with the blanks still in it.

  • Privacy PolicyDrafted. Published before the products leave private beta.
  • Website TermsDrafted. Same timing.
  • Cookie PolicyDrafted, and currently describes a site that sets no cookies.

If you need any of these now for procurement or due diligence, ask and we will send the current drafts, marked as drafts.
